#ProtivitiChampions – Meet Jose

At Protiviti, everyone has the potential to be a champion, and over the last month we have spotlighted several such champions from around the globe. These individuals help make Protiviti a truly great place to work. For our final post in the #ProtivitiChampions series, we’d like to spotlight Jose. Jose is an Associate Director and a clear example of what a champion truly looks like.

Protiviti Champions Spotlight: Jose

Jose is an IT Audit Associate Director in our Orlando Office.

Jose is an IT Audit Associate Director in our Orlando Office.

  • Years at Protiviti – “11 years as of January 6th
  • Path to Protiviti – “While I never interned with Protiviti, I did join as an entry-level Consultant right after I graduated with my masters from The University of Florida”
  • Current Solution and/or Industry focus – “IT Audit – I service a variety of different industries including healthcare, real estate, hospitality, government, not-for-profit, and financial services”
  • What is your role as a champion? – “I’m the Orlando Office Champion for the Parents’ Network”
  • Why is that role important to you? Protiviti? – “Becoming a parent was one of the most challenging, yet rewarding events of my life. Coupling parenting with my career at Protiviti often left me very overwhelmed initially.  I often wondered how my colleagues with kids actually pulled it all off.  Now that I have two children (ages 4 and 2), I hope to promote this network to provide answers, advice, and support to help reduce some of the normal fears and anxiety that comes with starting a family, while also being a working professional.”
  • What is one meaningful moment you have experienced as a champion? – “Sitting around our office conference room table having lunch with an expectant mother who just confessed to having an emotional breakdown the day before. I observed various colleagues (who were themselves parents) offer advice, uplifting words of encouragement, and support for this co-worker.  In my mind, it solidified the value of the Parents’ Network.”
  • What is one thing you hope to accomplish in your role as a champion? – “Helping our people conclude that being a parent and a hardworking professional does not have to be mutually exclusive.”

#ProtivitiChampions – Meet Domonique

At Protiviti, everyone has the potential to be a champion.  A champion is an employee who serves as a role model or advocate for an initiative within the organization.  Through our champions, we have been able to strengthen our connections to one another, to work more effectively, build a better culture and do work that is meaningful.  Our champions are part of the reason Protiviti is truly a great place to work.

Being a champion is a source of pride for our people, and it is a clear way to have an impact.  Take Domonique as an example.

Protiviti Champions Spotlight: Domonique

Domonique is a Senior Manager in our Atlanta office

Domonique is a Senior Manager in our Atlanta office

  • Years at Protiviti – “4.5 years”
  • Path to Protiviti– “I was hired as an experienced senior in Internal Audit Financial Advisory (IAFA) on the process side.  I have since changed to the technology side of IAFA but I still enjoy working on both sides of the spectrum. Prior to Protiviti, I worked in Internal Audit at a manufacturing organization and Financial Operations at KPMG. I graduated from Georgia Southern University. Go Eagles!”
  • Current Solution and/or Industry focus – “I am in IAFA Technology. I do not focus on a specific industry.”
  • What is your role as a champion?– “One of my champion roles is being the Diversity Recruiting Lead for campus recruiting at University of Georgia.  I co-lead this effort with Senior Consultant, Christen.”
  • Why is that role important to you? Protiviti?– “The purpose of our company’s focus on diversity recruiting is to ensure we select from the best candidates regardless of race, gender, etc. As part of diversity recruiting, we make a point to target diverse groups on campus which focus on majors we hire at Protiviti and present information to them about our company, our solutions, job opportunities and really what it means to be a consultant – a concept which remains a bit foreign to most students!  We have historically spoken to groups including National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), Society of Women in Technology (SWT), and Women in Business (WIB).  The presentations are often very enlightening to some students who do not really understand their options or know there are alternatives to Big 4. With the Women in Business organization, specifically, we have combined our initiatives for diversity recruiting with our women’s initiative and developed a mentoring program. The mentors give guidance on interviewing, resume tips, their majors, and career opportunities. We plan events  to meet in person once per quarter and they also correspond via phone and email. Ultimately, we have hired several of the members of WIB group.”
  • What is one meaningful moment you have experienced as a champion? – “I met with my WIB mentee earlier this week. She was REALLY struggling with deciding between two very different full time offers she received.  Based on the experiences she described at both companies, her short and long term interests, and the experiences I’ve had in my career path, I was able to help her talk through her decision.  I loved being able to help her because I remember what it was like to be completely lost coming out of college!”
  • What is one thing you hope to accomplish in your role as a champion?– “My hope is that our diversity recruiting efforts will help to continue increasing the caliber of candidates, regardless of their background.”

  • Years at Protiviti – “6+ years”
  • Path to Protiviti – “Before joining Protiviti, I worked at KPMG as an external auditor”
  • Current Solution and/or Industry focus – “I’m primarily engaged in the Internal Audit solution. I lead internal control review projects, compliance projects and business improvement projects. I focus on real estate, hospitality, manufacturing and technologies industries.”
  • What is your role as a champion? – “As a champion, my role is to help build office culture and to create a united team. Together with the management team, I create a better work environment for everyone to work in. At the same time, to convey the factual message about my experience to all who are in and outside of Protiviti – What do I do in my daily work? Why am I here? What have I learned?”
  • Why is that role important to you? Protiviti? – “As a senior manager and champion, I think it’s critical to share credit with your team. When you achieve the goal and receive high appreciation from the clients for completing the project, the first thing is to say thank you to the team and share the credit with them. This is important because we all know at Protiviti we are a team, not a single person. That mindset can make the success of a project or a company. Meanwhile, the team can receive a message that their hard work and contribution are appreciated and respected by higher lever colleagues and the client.
  • What is one meaningful moment you have experienced as a champion? – “I have been involved with campus recruiting multiple times. Every time I meet new graduates and share my work and life experiences at Protiviti, I can tell they feel excited and want to join us.”
  • What is one thing you hope to accomplish in your role as a champion? – “I hope that in the near future, we can continue focusing on our culture and keep talking about it, so that we can continue to build a great place to work.”
